Explore Aquatic Wonders with the CHASING DORY Underwater Drone

In 2000, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) estimated that only one percent of the ocean’s floors had been explored. The reason for that is obvious: humans are awful at being underwater — particularly for extended periods of time or at any substantial depth. Some species of whale can dive to well over a mile under the ocean’s surface, while you would struggle to make it past a dozen yards without scuba gear. Fortunately, you can now explore the marvels of the undersea world with CHASING DORY underwater drone.

CHASING DORY is a followup to GLADIUS MINI underwater drone that was successfully funded and launched through Kickstarter in 2017. In comparison to GLADIUS MINI, CHASING DORY is smaller, more affordable, and more intuitive to use. It’s roughly the size of your old high school biology textbook, and can be easily carried to the nearest lake, beach, or hot tub.

Once you arrive at your destination, you can simply attach the tethered buoy and drop CHASING DORY into the water. That buoy facilitates a WiFi connection between CHASING DORY and your smartphone. The buoy tether is 10 meters (32.8 feet) long, which is the maximum operating depth. A simple app on your phone can be used to pilot CHASING DORY and control the camera. CHASING DORY can automatically maintain its depth and tilt in place to help you get the perfect video or photo to show off to your Instagram followers. The battery is good for approximately one hour of underwater fun, and only takes two hours to recharge.

If you want the CHASING DORY for you next sea expedition, the Kickstarter campaign will be running until October 20th. Early birds can get one CHASING DORY and the required accessories for $349. Rewards are expected to be delivered in October.
